If you are running your daycare in an area of your home I would suggest sleep mats instead of cots. Sleep mats fold up and are easier to store. Kindermats are the best quality and are very reasonably priced. Go to http://www.goodeals.com/ and type in kindermat. Most regulated home daycares are required to have at least a ½ thick sleep mat, please check with your local licensing office before you make your purchase and remember to keep your receipts because anything you buy for your daycare is a business expense and it is tax deductible.
For tables and chairs- check with local churches to see if they have any they would like to donate to your daycare. You will be surprised at the amount of response you will get. If you are just starting off I would suggest a small table that will accommodate 4 children. Another great place to find deals is your local goodwill. (Please note that goodwill receipts do not state the item you purchased. Make sure you write down the item you purchased on the receipt so you have it for tax time.) People are always donating wooden/plastic tables and chairs and they can usually be picked up for under $10 at the goodwill. If you purchase tables and chairs online you will be slammed with shipping fees. Also check http://www.craigslist.org/.
